BSR signed the agreement during a high-level meeting in New York, attended by Vietnamese leaders and U.S. corporate executives. The partnership with ExxonMobil is part of BSR's strategy to broaden its network of international crude suppliers, allowing for more flexibility in feedstock sourcing.

In 2026, BSR has been actively evaluating crude oil supplies from various regions, including the U.S., and has also secured agreements with Chevron to ensure stable feedstock for the refinery. Dung Quat Refinery has successfully tested multiple crude types, expanding its processing capabilities to accommodate 40 different grades.

The refinery, which is crucial to Vietnam's petroleum supply, imported approximately 8.28 million tons of crude oil in 2025. For 2026, BSR plans to balance its crude supply between domestic and imported sources, with imports projected to make up about 15% of total feedstock.
