GG Power and Cornex Sign Strategic Cooperation on Battery Energy Storage

Vietnamese battery-storage manufacturer GG Power and Chinese lithium-cell maker Cornex signed a strategic cooperation agreement on battery energy storage systems (BESS) on September 10, 2026, at GG Power's factory in Industrial Zone 5, Hung Yen province. The agreement was signed by GG Power chairman and CEO Bui Xuan Binh and Cornex chairman Huang Feng.

GG Power positions the deal as a step toward making Vietnam a Southeast Asian BESS manufacturing hub, citing Vietnam's revised Power Development Plan VIII, which targets roughly 26,000 MW of rooftop self-consumption solar by 2030 — equivalent to about 13 Hoa Binh hydropower plants. Under the deal, GG Power will use Cornex battery cells while handling Vietnam-based system design, integration and manufacturing, citing safety features including IP65 sealing, automatic thermal cutoff, and aerosol fire suppression.

GG Power frames its ambition as moving beyond assembly-only "Make in Vietnam" work toward Vietnamese-developed BESS technology — system design, EMS/BMS control software, and standards — with an eventual goal of exporting and joining global supply chains.
