Solar developer GreenRoof Energy has announced a cooperation with Vietcombank's Nam Thang Long branch to accelerate solar power and battery energy storage system (BESS) deployment across Vietnamese industrial zones and manufacturing facilities. The partnership targets a combined portfolio of roughly 1 GW of capacity by 2030, spanning grid-connected utility-scale solar farms, rooftop solar paired with BESS, standalone BESS installations, grid-connected BESS at industrial facilities, and integrated generation-plus-storage solutions.

GreenRoof Energy CEO Nguyen Khoa Dung said the 1 GW target reflects the company's long-term commitment to renewable development and to helping businesses transition to greener, more efficient power use. The article positions rooftop solar paired with on-site storage as a way for manufacturers to optimize self-consumption, manage peak-demand charges, cut emissions, and meet sustainability requirements increasingly demanded by export supply chains.

It cites Vietnam's recent legal framework enabling this shift — Law 61/2024/QH15 and Decrees 57/2025/ND-CP and 58/2025/ND-CP — which allow direct power purchase agreements (DPPA) between renewable developers and large corporate consumers, bypassing state utility EVN as an intermediary. Vietcombank's role points to a financing component for industrial clients adopting these systems, though specific loan terms were not detailed.
