Gulf Development, the largest private power producer in Thailand, is reactivating its plans for major gas-fired power initiatives in Vietnam. CEO Sarath Ratanavadi indicated that the company sees strong potential in the Vietnamese market, which is experiencing a surge in electricity demand.

The company has previously commissioned two solar projects and three nearshore wind farms in Vietnam, and is now looking to expand its investments in LNG-to-power and wind energy projects. Gulf's strategic discussions with Vietnamese officials highlight its commitment to becoming a long-term partner in the country's energy security.

In 2019, Gulf signed an agreement to explore the Ca Na LNG-fired power complex, which was projected to have a capacity of 6,000 MW. The renewed focus on gas-fired generation aligns with Vietnam's revised power development plan, which aims to establish multiple LNG-fired projects to meet growing energy needs.
