Vietnam Initiates Development of Kinh Ngu Vang Oilfield, Aiming for First Oil by Q4 2027
September 27, 2026

The Kinh Ngu Vang oilfield is located at Blocks 01/10 and 02/10, and the first cut ceremony for the project took place on September 18, 2026, at the Vietsovpetro fabrication yard. PVEP's Ho Chi Minh City branch is the project owner, while Vietsovpetro is responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC).
The development plan includes a wellhead platform, subsea pipelines, and a system of integrated power and fiber-optic cables that will connect the field to the existing Thang Long-Dong Do production cluster. This integration aims to facilitate the processing and sale of oil and gas from the new development.
The Kinh Ngu Vang project is designed to produce approximately 6,470 barrels of oil and 3.1 million cubic feet of gas daily, involving the drilling of 12 wells, with nine slated for production. The project faces challenges in cost control, scheduling, and ensuring safety and quality during its execution.
